I have had twitter for a few years but now when i follow certain people /accounts i can only see about 3 of their tweets. Previously i could see all tweets from any account i followed. Is this related to a setting on my account or a setting on the person i am following account

I believe it may be a setting available to one person you are most likely - hopefully - not following.

Do yourself a favour and ditch it.

I don't seem to have any problems with seeing things I don't want to on twitter. There are reports of an influx of crank right idiots and bots but they don't seem to impact on me. It still seems to work for what I want it for, even if the CEO is a fruitloop

The adverts are the most annoying thins but i simply block every account using advertising.

Are you set to "for you"?

Change it to "Following".

It'll be at the top of the screen.

There are 2 tabs on the home feed. "For you" and "Following". If you are on "For you" it's always been the case you see suggested tweets from people you don't follow.

Spam accounts are a lot more common, particularly your classic crypto scammers and also escort accounts who go in and like your tweets to get your attention. If it were not for a few useful info accounts that don't seem to have gone elsewhere yet, I'd have left by now.

thanks now i can see many more tweets but i cant see historic tweets from a person i am following
How far down can you see?

As long as I can remember, which is many years pre-Musk, I've only ever been able to scroll down about 250 or so tweets in any feed - including my own - before the scrolling stops, so I think there's some kind of a limit to what you can see easily. There are ways of seeing way beyond that, but I can't remember what they are. I'm certainly often getting likes and even retweets on tweets I did years ago, so they are all still out there somewhere.

As it’s now X are messages still called tweets?
Nothing like taking a worldwide brand and changing its name for something meaningless.

I'm getting lots of this. It spoils what was a decent platform.

Definitely I'm seeing a lot more junk now. And what really annoys me is that on popular tweets, there are replies (presumably bots) that have nothing to do with it. It's all a bit of a mess.

But the 'following' tab still works fine.

According to everyone except Twitter themselves, they're still called tweets. Officially they're called posts now, but nobody is really embracing the new name and terminology.

Given there are many other social media platforms, 'posts' doesn't make it obvious what platform you're talking about. Saying you Tweeted someone did, and was a great ad for Twitter.

Now you'd have to say you posted on X, or maybe X Posted (but that sounds wrong) and it all just shows how out of touch Elon is, but then be really does believe he can turn X into a banking, shopping, video streaming, conferencing service that replaces every other existing and successful service in existence.
