In contrast, TOCs are much more careful; you may not people such as like Brian Souter, but he comes from humble origins and keeps track of the pennies.
Have to agree there, he also seems more willing to take risks, it's interesting to compare Stagecoach standards of service provision (especially when it comes to frequency) with the very risk adverse First Group.
While I don't agree with his religious views or all of his company's behaviour, I do have to take my hat off to him as a proactive businessman as opposed to the Bowker type who seem to just run a business into the ground, get a good payoff and then walk straight into an unrelated job
