Hello everyone.

You might have seen a slightly related post about my issue in the BVE area, but it relates to more than that so hopefully someone can help me.

I think the graphics card in my laptop needs it's drivers updating, but when I download the upgrade it says it's not compatible with my system. How stupid is that, they've made an upgrade that doesn't work on the laptops they've installed the hardware in!

So my question to you is, what do I do? it affects BVE, which I cannot play at all, and if affects TRS which makes the computer blue screen every time I close CMP.

Anyone have a solution?

I'm gonna guess that you have downloaded the drivers from the card manufacturer (Nvidia or ATI I would imagine) in which case the driver won't work as they don’t support the mobile version of their cards (don’t ask me why I can’t remember exactly). So the only way you can update your drivers is by downloading them from the manufacturer of your laptop, they supply the drivers however most of them don’t bother releasing many updates because it’s too much effort.

If you have an ATI card there is a work around on this website:

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php

I have used it for my laptop with no issue.

Hope that helps.

Just restarting the laptop to finish the installation, I'll let you know what happens.

BVE still not working, I will try TRS later and see what happens.

TRS seems to be ok, I didn't get a blue screen of death today when exiting Content Manager. But we'll wait and see whether or not this was just a one off!

Still no joy with BVE4 though.

I did install Open BVE. Some routes work ok, some have the same problem as with BVE4, and some are driveable but have a few coour boxes every now and again.

Hmm well I guess then its sorta helped then. I'm not suprised the driver change didn't do much if you look at the date the driver was issued, its back in 2008! To be honest the graphics card you using is not very games friendly so your not doing badly by getting it to work on anything if you look at this website your card is ranked 164th!

Oh well sorry I couldn't help more :(

Yea, it's a pretty poo card lol - Allthough, despite having the same card as my old laptop, the game runs VERY smoothly on this laptop. And slightly smoother than before I updated the card too!

The 'card' you're using isn't a card at all. It's a chip built into the motherboard. They're designed to run windows visual elements and not much more.
