11:45 Guildford to London Waterloo via Epsom
I saw 2 other people get on here the back. I got on in coach 3 and had it to myself.
These trains are currently only hourly, unlike the Cobham ones which are twice an hour.
I dutifully continued to wear my mask but with no one else in the carriage, it did seem overkill.
Still, one never knows the time when someone else might actually board carriage 3, before I alight at Epsom that is.
As it turned out the guard walked through the train at one point and finally at Leatherhead some people boarded the train. 7 people to be exact.
Once at Epsom I headed to platforms 1 and 2, thinking the train departed from there - it always seems to in peak morning rush hour but no it was platform 3, so back I went.
Once on the train, there were 2 other people in my carriage, which was the second one.
The train crawled between Cheam and Sutton, arriving a minute late.
Once at the barrier I couldn't see how to exit as above every gate on the beam was no exit circles. Turns out the right-hand gate was available. The person said I was the first person to look at these large no exit signs.
Perhaps they should remove them. I didn't bother saying anything though and I left. I can't imagine they would do anything even if I pointed it out
On the way back I got the late-running 15:13 from Sutton, which departed at 15:14. A number of people for off what I assume was coach 7 or 9. This left just me and 2 others in the coach.
I was heading to Epsom.
Once at Epsom, 1 minute late of course, I picked up a train to Guildford. A reasonable number got off but a reasonable amount were still on. Still plenty of space mind you. So it certainly wasn't packed. [Edit: Real Time Trains shies the train arrived on time but I'm sure it was late in].
I didn't count the people but at Guildford 6 of alighted. I was something like 2 coaches from the back.
