I have only ever been on the Cally Sleeper once (from Inverness-London) in Summer 2008, around the time Haymarket was flooded.

I know that there are two sleepers: the Lowlander (to Glasgow/Edinburgh) and the Higlander (to Fort William/Inverness/Aberdeen), but how many carriages are conveyed for each five destinations? I know the Lowlander is joined/decoupled at Carstairs and the Highlander at Edinburgh (where I assume you cannot board).

Also, how many coaches are there on the Cornish Riviera?

Many thanks

Glasgow and Edinburgh are both Six sleeper, a seated and a lounge.

Fort William is two sleepers, with a lounge and seated carriage attached/detached at Edinburgh.

I may be wrong, but I think Inverness is a "full" set like Edinburgh and Glasgow, leaving Aberdeen as four sleepers plus a lounge and seated- so that on arriving/leaving London the two formations (highland/lowland) are essentially identical, and so that "full sets" can rotate to Inverness for servicing?

Each set is actually six sleepers, lounge car and brake / seated

For the Glasgow / Edinburgh this is two rakes, which join / split at Carstairs

For the Inverness / Aberdeen / Fort William this is also two rakes, which join / split at Edinburgh
The Aberdeen then splits further, with two sleepers to Fort William joining / spliting with the additional lounge car and brake /seated that operates solely between Edinburgh and Fort William
Northbound on Friday and Southbound on Sunday this is three sleepers to Fort William, the Aberdeen also reduces to three sleepers (from the four that are left on all other days)

Each rake is composed of three sets
sleepers - sleepers - seats
The number of sleepers in each set varies as two or three, resulting in between four and six sleepers in each rake
The seats are then composed of RFM-FO-BFO
In total this give the sleeper between 7 and 9 coaches
