One other rule, you can't go back on the same service you just used in the previous step.

Just to clarify matters.....This means if you go from A to B, you cannot on the next leg go back from B to A (unless the special rule about "dead-end" branch lines is brought into play).

However if there are three points on a route, A, B ,C, where B is the mid point on this leg, you can go from A to B....then carry on from B to C, as you are not going back on yourself.

I trust that this makes matters somewhat clearer.
