I'm fairly sure this has been asked before but I can't find it (yes I am numpty!) but can anyone recomend a hotel near to Cologne station, preferably fairly cheap for one adult and two teenagers, Ta!
Thanks. I'm still planning the trip. Have the sleeper booked from Vienna to Cologne and am now thinking of a night in Vienna too so also could do with recomendations for Vienna too please.
There is an A&O Hotel/Hostel nearby, my experience of others in Germany is pretty good though I've not stayed at the Köln one. Expect about 30-40€ per room IME
Motel One are a bit further away and a little more expensive ranging from 50-90€ per room. Their hotels are very nice IME! There is also one in Wien near the West Bahnhof
I like using InterCity Hotels in Germany because they are always close to stations. There's also one round the corner from Wien Westbf I have used.
A 24-hour local transport ticket is always included in the price. http://www.intercityhotel.com/en/
We stayed at the 5* Hilton, which is just round the corner. Very nice indeed...
We only did this because we got one of their advance deals and it was a weekend - if you can find one of the deals they are incredible value for money. We paid about £70 for the room including breakfast for two people (which was very good).
Didn't take advantage of a bottle of Evian water from the mini bar at EUR12.00 though...
In Cologne, the Appartel am Dom which normally has good prices (100m from Hbf.) or the Gunnewig Kommerz (directly opposite) and, in Wien, the Motel One right by the Westbahnhof. The Ibis at Cologne is nothing to write home about....
There is an IBIS around Koln Deutz - area is fine. Decent enough bar on the station too with a "garden" - plenty of decent hotels north of the HbF also. Enjoy the Kolsch beer ....
