Hi all, I have just brought a hornby pendolino second hand, and would like to make a few changes -

1. change the pantograph to something more suitable or replace the original with the same as the top piece is missing (any ideas).
2. add new brass nameplates if they exsists (city of coventry - with crest).
3. change the running number to the above loco 390??? without taking everything else off!.

Any help from you good people would be really great, thanks, Chris.

Hi Chris,

I don't know much about electric trains (apart from the 91s!), I'm more of a DMU man so I can't help you with the pantograph.

As for the nameplates, a company called Shawplan do them. They don't do "City Of Coventry" like you asked, but they do some others. See here: - http://users.computerweekly.net/ka/shawplan/class390.htm . You're looking for the 4mm ones. ;)

You can also get the number transfers from somewhere, but off the top of my head I can't remember sorry! :|

Hope this is of some help to you.

As I understand it, the Pendolinos use a slightly changed Brecknell Willis High speed Pantograph [http://www.traintesting.com/Highspeed_pan.htm] the basic version was available as a kit from Hurst Models, but it is a bugger to build.

I'd suggest contacting Hornby to source a spare (rare as they are built in China), or perhaps find a 92 pantograph which may be a reasonable likeness, although I suspect these are actually harder to come by.
