Hornby 37 DCC Conversion

My Dad:

I'm trying to convert a hornby class37, from the motor brushes left side, orange , goes to orange on the decoder, right side, grey to grey on decoder, power pick ups red to red, black to black, trouble is, there's no pick up's on the chassis, so it looks like the whole chassis are pick ups, therefore no red or black wires to connect to decoder.

Yeah, To be honest it's not me who's doing it, so I don't really know.
But I don't think there are any pickups. He's converted another Hornby 37 no problem, but this one is different.

No pickups, where does the power come from? It must be different in that case! Ive got to get a decoder soon and put it in 34029, will be interesting as last time i tried i couldnt get its case off

Well I don't really know about it, so whatever lol
There'll obviously be pickups somewhere, but yeah...I don't know lol

I never thought id see the day, at this rate more locos for your galas will be DCC and someone may aswell bring a digital unit

doesn't it work so that one side of one bogie is live to one rail and the other is to the other rail :?

this is why I stuck to DC (and why a certain someone me and Stephen know gave up and went back to it!)

Well alot of both yours and stephen's fleet are quite old, it could take forever to install a decoder to the majority of the locos.

Well, we're on DCC and why would we want a DC to run on it? It risks ruining the motor if it's used alot and there's only one address for DC trains to run.

Im still looking for a motor bogie like that, i knew me and stephen forgot to look for something yesterday. seeing as all the locos were on the new layout!

DCC/DC debates are always roaring in the model trade now, its like the 442 vs 450 debates we have here. They'll never go away!

Seems to take a turn to the 444s not the 450s
