LBC Radio have just issued a bulletin reporting I person killed in crash between passenger train and light loco on the Hope Valley line.

No reports anywhere else yet. And National Rail showing Piccadilly departures to Sheffield on time. And VV.

Anyone know anything?

Everything seems to be reporting as normal (manual reports up there) and I've not seen anything come out. It would be good going to get a report out on the radio with trains still reporting as moving in the area 4 mins ago.

The only incident I'm aware of recently even remotely involving the route was an empty stock working from Liverpool to Nottingham killed a suicidal person on the line Monday evening but that was at Ilkeston.

Sorry guys, no other news and trains seem to be running in their normal late way. So I'm going to call bollocks on it.

I agree. I definately heard it but it seems like a cock up on their part.

LBC radio not surprised.
Id say it’s a rare for a major UK radio station to broadcast a news story that ultimately turns out completely bogus, however this occasion appears to be one of them

It was a piece about the presenter Steve Allen who started there as a newsreader 40 years ago today and still does the early morning show. The clip you heard was from the late 70s or early 80s...

It's here: LINK

9th March 1986 Chinley North Junction. I investigated this from a criminal perspective.
