just wondering if anyone could tell me the best line side place on the hope valley line. Going to take a few photos and have a day ouut next saturday.

Richard, if you got into Hope take the right hand turn at the pub and follow the Edale road, go over the narrow bridge and bare left. Continue on that lane, under the railway bridge and follo for about half a mile, there is a left hand turn that leads to an up and over farm lane/bridge. You can park there while still leaving plenty of room for farm equipment and vehicles. Follow the public footpath that is parallel to the line, some good spots down there.

If its a good view of the line from above you would like, at the narrow bridge go straight forward and up the lane. You'll come to the railway bridge. It has a fantasic view of the signal box and sidings.

It may also be worth mentioning that there are some good spots further along the Edale road where it runs right next to the line. You can park easily in one of the little laybys, and get a great, clear view safely and without having to walk a distance

Slightly further from the line, the footpath running between Lose Hill and Hollins Cross has great views over many miles of the route (from Lose Hill, you can see just about the whole route from beyond Bamford almost to the mouth of Cowburn Tunnel) - part of a nice walk between Hope and Edale stations, taking in the close-up views of Earles Sidings on the way!
