Honiton to London Bridge Return

I intend to travel from Honiton to London Bridge next Tuesday 14th November. and intend to book via "RailUKforum", the least I can do, because of the excellent advice they have given me over the last few years.

I wish to catch the 09.55 train from Honiton arriving at London Bridge by 13.15.

I understand that two tickets are available, £59.55, off peak return, or £103.35 anytime return - using my Senior Railcard.

Does the off peak mean that I can only board my return train after 7pm?

Also somebody has mentioned that part of the journey is via a bus replacement service?

Honiton to London Bridge is valid via Waterloo on an "any permitted ticket" and shows as valid on the NRE journey planner anyway (also https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/travel-information/travelling-in-london/).
This talk about Paddington is confusing because the original poster never mentioned Paddington and is unlikely to want to go via Paddington, especially as it's not a valid route with the ticket (except as a final destination via Basingstoke and Reading). Spurious posts about Paddington deleted.

I made almost the same journey recently...0955 honiton to waterloo then waterloo east to charing Cross on a "london terminals" off peak return. Confirmed as valid by the ever helpful Justin(?) in the ticket office, barriers did not swallow my ticket. Would be equally valid to London Bridge.

Definitely, a London Terminals ticket can be used via Waterloo East to get to London Bridge from Waterloo itself. I've never had such (paper) tickets swallowed by the gates at Waterloo.
It would always be quicker to sit on the train from Honiton at Basingstoke and continue to Waterloo, than to exploit the Any Permitted routing via Reading from there (except during disruptions on the Basingstoke to Waterloo line, of course)

I think this is the best route once I arrive at Waterloo - walk from Waterloo to Waterloo East - then South Eastern train to London Bridge.

I need to attend a meeting near to London Bridge - if time is tight then I may have to take a taxi to London Bridge from Waterloo.

My main concern was the off peak restrictions on the return journey, but that isn't problem as per Yorkie's reply above.

The direct train from Exeter however is tempting! but Honiton is easier to get to.

It depends how close to London Bridge the meeting is, but I would suggest the train would be faster than a taxi for that part of the journey.

Agreed. Trains run from Waterloo East to London Bridge every few minutes, you should never need to wait more than five minutes. Journey time is 4 minutes.

Google maps says that a journey from Waterloo to London Bridge by car on a Tuesday at 13:30 will typically take between 9-22 minutes.

If there is disruption on National Rail from Waterloo East then get the Jubilee Line.
