anyone know why until 25th of jan the liverpool services stop at crewe?

and also until the 25th jan the chester services are limited to euston to only a few per day?

is this due to engineering works?

NO. The new VHF Virgin High Frequency servcie is implemented in 2 stages - Lite from 13 Dec to 23 Jan, and Heavy from 24th Jan. This is to allow completion of the WCRM work at Christmas and associated delays and reroutings and for VWC crews etc to point out to thei management the holes in the new diagrams etc and work out how to over [/cynical] to allow a full service to be implemented in a less busy period.

Should run through on Saturdays from 10th Jan, weekdays from 26th Jan ***

*** Subject to MK resignalling/messing about being completed ontime over Christmas blockade.

Service much awaited although many fears of biblical overcrowding...

Aren't they also being cut back to East Croydon as well? Given XC withdrawing the direct Voyagers it's a bit of a pain to cross London now if you want to avoid the Tube.

Yep all shacks E.Croydon-Clapham and nearly all shacks Wembley-M.Keynes. Wembley C, Harrow, Watford, Hemel, Berko, Tring, Leighton, Bley, MK from memory although some in the gush flag a few of those.

Come back Connex all is forgiven!!!

That would suggest that the Chester services are not being launched when planned, so to compensate and to ensure the hourly service to Crewe remains in effect this change has been made
I assume Chester is not electrified, and so this suggests that there may be an issue over either route training or Super Voyagers

No, as stated above and in umpteen other places, the Chester's don't start until Jan 26th because they aren't launching the full VHF until then. Nothing to do with crew or stock.

Eeek, I had better check for connection times then, as noone has notified me of any change on Glasgow Virgin Trains services
i'm quite sure I will be able to find a few which may result in missed connections

Well it has been on the VT website, and IIRC the DfT plan from the start that there would be a 2 stage introduction because the infrastructure will not be in place on 14th Dec as there is Christmas engineering work. Then you need time for crew training and familiarity.

Your FSR area may not be affected, as the trains may run in the same paths, but with a reduced VHFlite to MAnc/Liverpool/Chester/Brum.

I thought all Liverpool services stop at Crewe, except the 0707, 0815 Up services which are non-stop. All Down services stop at Crewe.

yeh they used to

but now its only 1 or 2 a day from the 25th?

timetable shows most lime street - runcorn - stafford - euston

basically every virgin timetable uses different stops, so as to cut journey times
