Hoek to Amsterdam?

Later this month my wife and I will be travelling this route to join a cruise in Amsterdam, returning 10 days later. Ferry out is overnight, return will be for the mid-daytime crossing.
I have seen various options and have now got totally confused, so looking for suggestions of the easiest (not neccessarily cheapest) method of taking the train. We are both over 65, if that makes any difference.
One suggestion has been to use the Omio App, but that isn't one I have come across before.
Any help, please?

It's super easy - just board the first train heading towards Rotterdam (they're every 20-30 minutes at that time in the morning going out, every 15 I think during the day for your return) from the metro station right outside the terminal. Stay on that for around 20 minutes and change at Schiedam Centraal, then you have a half-hourly direct train to Amsterdam Centraal, taking 1h10m.

For both legs of the journey you don't need to buy a ticket, just tap in/out with a contactless bank card (UK cards work absolutely fine).

The easiest might be to get a taxi.

However, I would use the metro from Hoek van Holland to Schiedam Centrum. Then get the train from Schiedam to Amsterdam Centraal.

You can use a contactless debit or credit card on the reader at Hoek van Holland, when you exit the metro at Schiedam Centrum, and again when you go through the barriers at Schiedam and Amsterdam Centraal.

We've done this by public transport several times. Very easy as described. The contactless works fine at the barriers (we did have a problem with one card not being accepted, but all mainstream banks' cards are fine).
Scheidam Centrum can be a confusing station, but don't rush, and don't forget that 'everyone' in The Netherlands speaks English so help is at hand.

I've never found a use-case for the Omio app or website!

When we came off the ferry at Hoek last year and took the metro to Schiedam and then the train to Amsterdam we found Schiedam station a bit confusing because of leaving the metro and then entering again for the train - just allow a little extra time for this.

Also the Amsterdam train was very full leaving Schiedam but after a couple of stations further along the line it had emptied out.
