it would appear that the east coast main line at Hitchine is to close for the reconstruction of the flyover, this is sometime in March anybody know of the dates, and trains are to be diverted via Ely and March

The weekends of 3rd & 4th March, 10th & 11th March, 17th & 18th March, 24th & 25th March.

I am not aware that the flyover will be constructed then, only some initial, preparatory works.

Thanks for the heads up. Will be some interesting viewing at Cambridge station then. So is pretty much everything that should be going via Huntingdon going to go via Cambridge instead? How will East Coast be running 225s? For four whole weekends? Surely this is going to be a logistical nightmare?

For four whole weekends?

Not for 4 whole weekends. 4 Sunday mornings. Blockade is only between 2200 Saturday and 1230 Sunday.

Not whole weekends- late Saturday night, up to 12:30 on Sunday I think is the case every weekend. Looking at the East Coast timetable for 4th March (which shows ONLY EC services- no Scotrail etc), there's four northbound services that appear to go via Cambridge, plus one starting at Peterborough, one at Retford, four at Doncaster, one a York and one at Edinburgh. Southbound, there's a service that terminates at Peterborough, one at Doncaster and four through via Cambridge.

I'd assume that all through services will be HST.

Hull trains don't operate during the closure time anyway, and GC are fully cancelling a north and southbound service on both routes those days (despite 180s certainly being cleared to Cambridge, as GC and HT have operated to and from there in the past)
