Someone told me that the Hitachi sidings at Tyne Yard are closing at the end of this year. Apparently several of the roads are condemned and Hitachi aren't bothered about sorting them out. Anyone know anything about it?

Why do Hitachi need ongoing use of sidings at Tyne Yard? The fleets are fully commissioned so there is no requirement for a facility at Tyne Yard any more. They will only have been hired from the site owner in any case.

It isn't closing as such. It's being handed back to DB (who lease the part of Tyne Yard in question to Hitachi) as Hitachi think they no longer need them.
I think it's a bad move from Hitachi, as they're short of space in their own ECML depots and the site in Tyne Yard has been a convenient place for them to temporarily store units that are stopped pending repairs that Hitachi weren't able to carry out straight away.
4 roads seem condemned as they are blocked off by sleepers. but then there is never any more than 1 or 2 units there at a time so they may not be too bothered about fixing the 4 as have 2 spare. When you say end of this year, did you mean 2021? as it seems to be still used by Hitachi currently.

We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
