Did the design that was posted in another thread end up being the final design? If I remember correctly the corridor connection was a little iffy as to whether it would obstruct the view of the driver

N-vs-S alert. Here we go again. The rest of the world must think the stupid British are ripping themselves apart again. Lets buy a 100% Japanese/German train - as it will not be dogged by internal differences.

Its interesting that a train built in Germany (Siemens) is more British than a train built in Britain (Bombardier). Of course they are both more European than a train built in Newton Aylcliffe I assume ?.

As said before ratio is pretty much the same from Hitachi as well. They are all three sourcing pretty much everything that can be sourced from local producers. Alstom do make traction components in the UK (Preston) but haven't been chosen recently by other manufacturers and Bombardiers proposal for Project Thor suggested using Belgian manufactured equipment and workshops even though the whole point was to keep as much of the work in the UK as possible and it could have been done in Preston and Derby (though Derby would have required purchasing specialist tools for steelworking).
