Hi, I received this plate yesterday.

20200624_091220.jpg

The locomotive number is 47480. I was wondering if any of you could shed any light on it?

It came into my possession after an operator's mum on my taxi firm passed away. When she saw this plate, she thought of me, as I like trains, it was in her mum's belongings.

Her grandad was a railway man in Derbyshire along time ago, possibly Midland Railway, but, the date wouldn't be right as this is presevation era?

Google is your friend:
http://www.rowsleyassociation.org.uk/
The Rowsley Association is the corporate name for the ex-Railwaymen and their families from the area who continue to keep in touch with one another through an annual reunion and a half-yearly 20-page Newsletter (originally a quarterly publication of 10 pages).

Thank you for that link. I think the taxi operator will be interested in that. I will show her tonight, and, see if any of the 3 names ring a bell.

The picture on the plate is blurred, it might be 47450, or 47460. If that helps.

Hugh Longworth's book on BR steam locos shows 47460 (plus 47459/61) were allocated to Rowsley from 1948 until 1963.
