Historic Bus ID?

Trying to place this photograph. Even a region or decade would help. Maybe Wales?

Can anyone recognise anything about this bus? Or suggest who/where I might ask?

The first thing that came to mind was a Bristol Lodekka, but I don't know much about old buses and that's not the best picture. Possibly just because I passed my test in one.

Definitely not a Lodekka. It's a half cab with an exposed radiator.

As it's a country location (not urban), it's less likely to be a municipal operator and with all manner of caveats, I'd suggest it might be something from a Tilling Group subsidiary like a Bristol K5G or Bristol KSW - see link

Not much to go on, but the light coloured stripe under the lower deck windows doesn't match most Tillings companies.

If it is Wales, some of the municipal operators ran inter-urban services, so could have been somewhere this rural, or it could have been a company operator or possibly even an independent.

The bus could just be from before 1939, or not long after. Or possibly a wartime 'utility' along the lines of this Daimler (not my photo) - the radiator looks as if it could be Daimler shaped, but I'm not certain.

By 'feel' alone, I'd say the photo's probably from not that long after the end of the 1939-45 war, but again, I'm not at all certain.

I did wonder of that was a cream band but thought it was the sun reflecting

I agree with you that the radiator suggests Daimler, or possibly Crossley, maybe even Guy (just not clear enough to identify properly). Could it have been a Red and White bus? Don't really know why I suggest that, but I've a gut feeling it's connected to Wales.

My first thought was that it is a Guy Arab. The low set headlights looked right for a Guy. Having said that, it could be a Daimler. Unfortunately, the image is just not sharp enough to tell.

It could just be a Daimler COG6 of the West Monmouthshire Omnibus Board, whose double deck livery incorporated three horizontal stripes, one, quite possibly two, of which appear in the photograph, the way I see it anyway!

I'm inclined to say the picture dates from just after WW2, the bus is possibly a utility bodied something but not clear enough to be sure when you zoom in.

South Wales AEC Regent possibly?

Suitably tall & narrow radiator, but I suspect the headlamps might be a little too high and the curvature of the roof not flat enough. The livery might fit though, depending on whether it's a stripe or the sunshine above the lower deck windows in the OPs image!
