Does anyone know if NWR hiring managers are working. I have passed the assessments and my application sits with the hiring manager to see if I get an interview. This has been since 21st March and I haven’t heard anything since.
Any advice or information welcome.

I'm still waiting too mate. Where abouts is the job? My application went to 'assessment complete' and then I got an email saying my interview has been postponed until deemed safe to proceed

It’s at Doncaster. I haven’t had confirmation if I got through to the interviews or not so fingers crossed no news is good news
Where and what is the position your going for?

I've got 4 live applications. 3 for operative roles and a crossing keeper role all in Ipswich and colchester. Its definitely a waiting game with network rail.

Hiring manager just means the manager for the job you’ve applied for, so they probably are working, just from home potentially.

Yeah I understand that. I am working on the assumption that as I haven’t been told I’m not through to the interviews i might have been lucky enough to get one. Maybe I shouldn’t count my chickens but I would have thought they would have been quite quick to say sorry but no thanks.

I'm a welder / fabricator by trade. I do structural steelwork mostly on building sites. I've decided I want more of a secure job with prospects so I'm going for the railway line of work

See if you understand why ask the question? Your application will be dealt with when it’s appropriate. The railway has bigger fish to fry at the moment...

Oh I do apologise MT18. I didn’t realise asking a question without anything but polite understanding would lead to a bit of a ridiculous response from your good self. Why don’t you have a drink and take a chill pill

Wrong side of the bed this morning? No harm in asking. Atleast he is keen.

You received an answer to your question, which you then say you understand that. What then are you exactly looking for? Managers will have their hands tied at the moment. I’ve got an application from last May pending and don’t expect it to progress any further at the moment due to the current climate. My apologies for being rude and I most certainly won’t be having a drink with a chill pill as I’m on shift and if that’s your routine I’d suggest you kick it if you want a career in the railway.

I know didn’t mean to be rude, apology has been given.

For someone who didn’t mean to be rude your quite good at it. Even your apology had a back handed dig in it. Why not out of respect for your current employer get on with your job instead of been on the internet having a go at people. Oh and a bit of free advice from me. If the role you have applied for is customer facing you might want to work on how you interact with people as it’s poor at best. Oh apology accepted thank you.

I had originally typed out a s***y response, but theres no need. All the best in pursuing your chosen career.

I work for NWR and everyone office based is working from home at the moment. Until recently only business critical depts could log on during the day, everyone else had to work in the evening after 4pm so there will be longer delays than usual.

Network rail sure is a hard nut to crack. What kind of commutes are people applying up to? I have been applying up to 45 mins away but some people say thats too much what do you think?

I have read that 45 mins is about the max. Mine will be about 35 mins if I’m lucky enough to get a position.

I applied for the same crossing keeper position, still under consideration for assessment 2.

I’m in the same boat got a few open applications, one being invite to assessment 2 pending, guessing that means a interview maybe?

It usually means an interview but dont bank on it. I've had that only to get an 'application unsuccessful ' email shortly afterwards. Have you applied for the operative roles in colchester and ipswich too?
