Journeyed up to Euston today from Chester, switching to the 0829 (ex Manchester) at Crewe for a Pendolino ride.
I was immediately surprised to see the Highland Sleeper calling in P12 at 0800, 138min down according to realtraintimes.
We followed 30 minutes later, but sure enough we (and several other 390s) got caught behind it and there was a slow procession from Milton Keynes onwards.
I see it was turned on the Slow from Colwich to Amington, but otherwise stayed on the Fast throughout.
It arrived at 1010, and we crawled into EUS just after.
I know it's a headache pathing slower trains (I assume it is a 110mph train), but I reckon it damaged a quite a lot of VT punctuality today on the following trains.
Not much - 7-10min mostly, but enough to take the shine off the trip.
All three sleeper portions arrived at Edinburgh on time, but it left there 152 late.
Anybody know what happened? It had 2x90s on the front.
Does this count as "TOC on TOC" delay?
