There's no mention on the East Coast or JourneyCheck sites of whether the 07:55 Inverness to Kings Cross train will run tomorrow morning (as far as I can see). Does anyone have any idea whether this will run, or when they will start putting out information for tomorrow (Friday the 6th)?

The northbound service yesterday (http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y50148/2013/12/04) was terminated at Perth. At a guess it won't run as there probably isn't a HST at Inverness to run it.

I would, i haven't seen a path for an ECS up to Inverness either.

Looking at the wider picture, about 20 incoming services to Inverness from the south were cancelled this afternoon (including the sleeper and the Chieftan), and consequently, so were all the returning services going south. Even if the line is physically clear in the morning, there doesn't appear to be any trains in Inverness to operate any of the ScotRail services to Edinburgh (unless they magically run overnight with 24hour crews!).

So my conclusion, in the absence of local staff to confirm, is that it is very unlikely that you'll be able to travel at that time. There hould be station staff to ask about other services, which usually continue throughout the morning southbound at about 10 minutes before each hour.

The 0650 Scotrail Inverness to Edinburgh did run and apparently some Inverness-based East Cost staff travelled on it.

Out of interest, what's the maximum number of 170s/158s that can be coupled-together for an ECS move, should the need ever arise to get units where they need to be?

Its starting from Perth, I assume it never left Perth this morning and the HST is still there.

Surely it would have needed to go to Craigentinny for refuelling if nothing else?

I believe the awnser is 12, but I may be corrected as I believe it is done on cabs.
