Tickets have already been on sale for that date for ages, all I can really say is go to the East Coast site and book ASAP.

For walk-on travel, a return from Leeds to Inverness is £125.70 and the First Class Upgrade is £20 on weekends.

I'm sure I've posted this before but if you don't mind using the S&C route, you can get an Anytime Return to Glasgow Rte Appleby for £47.60, and Virgin allow (certainly used to; can anyone confirm they still do?) the use of First Class accommodation on their trains (in this case Carlisle-Glasgow) at no additional cost on weekends. From Glasgow, a SVR or SOR to Inverness (route Aviemore) is £52.70 in Standard (plus FC upgrades as appropriate), or £88.30 FOR in First Class. You could then join the Chieftain at somewhere like Falkirk or Stirling.
