Highbury Vale Junction and LO

I noticed on google maps there is a spur just before Highbury an Islington that runs under corsica street that links the "east london Line" part of the london overground to the great northern.
With further platforms being added to Finsbury park will any TOC run services using this connection.

Its a shame that they didn't make the East London Line 4 track as you could have a Kings Lynn to Brighton service with an interchange at Finsbury Park (for city line connections),
Canada Water (for Canary Wharf) and New cross gate thus avoiding London Bridge.

making the east london line 4-track would have meant having to bore an additional pair of tunnels under the thames, not to mention all the other additional bridges and viaducts.

The connection you talk about doesn't connect to the ELL tracks (towards Whitechapel), only the NLL tracks (towards Stratford). So you couldn't run the service you described.

Suggesting a link between the ELL and the GN has been discussed quite a few times. In addition to the requirement for another tunnel under the Thames, it just isn't possible to path services over what would be a flat crossing of the NLL, with its fairly intensive freight services, and the local conditions do not allow for any form of grade separated junction.

Thameslink would already allow for a notional Kings Lynn to Brighton service, if there was any demand. As it is they are only planning trains from Cambridge, and leaving Bedford as the main link to Brighton.

Its a single track link now isn't because it the tunnel doesn't meet current specs.

It was originally on the East London Line plans extension along with Wimbledon along with a peak only ELL to Willesden Junction via Primrose Hill service.
