The line needs a major upgrade. After the new trains, a full refurbishment including modifying platforms for level boarding, step free access, an additional platform at Drayton Park (and fence off a platform face- or two additional platforms and make the existing one exit-only?). Oh and rebuild Harringey and Hornsey at the same time...

The NCL is still a lower revenue earning line and not one that any TOC who has run trains on it has ever prioritised. As I say, I certainly can't see GTR investing anything in these stations as they certainly don't have the spare cash to throw about at such things.

Of course, GTR doesn't earn any ticket revenue, it all goes to DfT. Well almost all of it.

The franchise is basically a contract to provide a specified service for a cost. If it isn't specified in the franchise contract, it isn't going to happen unless DfT decide they want it to. The same applies to the Kings Lynn line, of indeed any line.

My point wasn't specific to
GTRs franchise/management contract situation but a general comparison of the NCL to the rest of the GN since privatisation. The rest of the line saw improvements under Prism/WAGN/FCC way ahead of the NCL.
