High Wycombe to New Milton Return

Hi all, on December 12th my sister and I shall be travelling down to New Milton for the day to surprise a friend. My sister will be 18 and I shall be 15 and we will be using a family and friends railcard. We are looking at leaving early in the morning and returning in the early evening and travelling via either Oxford or London depending on which is cheaper. Just wandering, what is the cheapest option for our journey? Thanks in advance.

I'm quite happy to go via Maidenhead and use trainspecific fares if that is the cheapest option? I have currently found a £27.10 fare leaving on the 06:23 and returning on either the 15:37, 16:37 or 17:37. Is there any cheaper options?

I'm happy to go via Oxford and £27.10 is all together

Having had a look, the cheapest option is to start from Maidenhead and go via Reading and Basingstoke (i.e. avoiding London). This gives Off-Peak Day Return fares of £20.95 Adult and £6.05 Child with the Railcard, for a total of £27.00.

Going via Paddington and Waterloo from Maidenhead would be £33.65 Adult and £9.70 Child, for a total of £43.35; and going via Marylebone and Waterloo from High Wycombe would be £37.45 Adult and £10.80 Child, for a total of £48.25.

Finally, in terms of going via Oxford from High Wycombe, you'd be looking at £31.40 Adult and £9.05 Child, for a total of £40.45. Such a ticket would be valid on both the reopened route through Bicester Village (formerly Bicester Town) and via Banbury.

Note that all of the fares given above are Off-Peak Day Returns, thus valid by any train at the weekend.

The bus from Wycombe to Maidenhead (or Twyford) will be more than 20p - I'd guess at around a fiver each, and it doesn't start till perhaps a bit late. Good option for a flexible fare though.
