High Speed Upgrade Query

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me with a HS Upgrade Query ...

I was wondering how much it would cost on top of a Off Peak One Day Travelcard from Brentwood (£12.50) to upgrade for a return journey to Ashford via HS1?

Southeastern's website doesn't say much on the matter ....

Stratford Int SE (SFA) to Ashford Intl (AFK) PLUS HIGH SPEED costs £26.60 for an Off Peak Day Return (without any discounts e.g. railcard). This is poor value as it's only 20p more from Brentwood!!!

I assume that's what you want?

There's no such thing as a Boundary Zone 6 ticket on HS1, but the price of BZ6 to AFK is £15.70 for comparison (would be valid via the 'classic' route)

What do you mean by an upgrade? upgrade what into what?

The HS supplements are just a way of excessing tickets that are routed Not HS1 into Route HS1 tickets, without the faff of excessing. They are, in effect, a way of doing a change of route excess very easily and quickly.

What you want is an over distance excess, but for Travelcards over distance excesses are done by issuing from Boundary Zone X (in your case for all zones X would be 6), however these are not available on HS1 due to the fact that Travelcards are not valid on HS1.

I echo what Yorkie said. In fact, it sounds like it would be cheaper to buy a Brentwood - Ashford via HS1 return, change at Stratford, and then buy a One Day Travelcard there (Zones 1-4 would do you if you're not going to the outer reaches) when you get back to Stratford from Ashford.
