I understand that, my point is why would they advertise fares being capped beyond the period they are contracted to run the service for.
Valid point... That all said, a while ago, even Derbyshire CC were showing two different dates for the end of the capped fares. One March , the other July 2027. Very soon all public transport will be under the control of the East Midlands Mayor.

High peak 297 is still in a non standard mainly white livery. Are there plans for it to go into fleet livery? In the time it has been here some buses have been repainted twice like the Buxton Buzz Citaros.

It’s been planned to be painted for a while, not sure if plans have changed but last I heard it was going into ‘Buxton buzz’ alongside 545

Plan remains for it to go into Buxton Buzz livery, but no timescale set for that.

Hi
What operates from Baslow ex Hullys depot is it only 113/4 and the 140 group of services or do other routes also operate from there?

That was only ever speculation - 271/2 remain Dove Holes services.
In which case, would it not make sense for High Peak to register a Buxton to Bradwell service, as Stagecoach have done with the 66, so they can claim fuel duty rebate on the dead workings?

Fuel duty rebate can be claimed on dead workings, there’s no requirement to run the vehicle in service in order to claim BSOG.

(BSOG = Bus Service Operators Grant - fuel duty rebate.)

Is there another reason Stagecoach register the 66 then? From what I can gather it doesn't have regular passengers, just the odd person who wants some rare mileage. I can't see them running it unless there was some financial gain to be made over just running dead.

As an aside, have High Peak announced what they are planning to do this coming week with the road closure at Hope?

I read somewhere that the 272 was going to be worked from there too
Tbh with it having a connection with old Hully's it's likely safer to seperate it from New Hully's that way high Peak can build a better repore for the new business than loose more passengers over which firm operates it

I believe a lot of customers were not happy with Hully's by the end

Is the 65 still a DCC contract? These days BSOG is only paid on commercial services (though the definition of commercial is a little broader than a literal reading) so if the 65 is tendered then there may be a case for registering a commercial dead run to be able to claim BSOG on those trips but as the 271/272 is commercial then there is less need.

With the changes to the registration system, in particular the lengthened notice periods for variation/cancellation, these types of journeys are less popular as they restrict your flexibility if you gain/lose work elsewhere that may change how you want to schedule your operation (leaving aside the cost of varying a registration, £60, which may be more than the income you generate if you vary often).

Fair point, I over-simplified my response and I should’ve clarified that BSOG is payable for dead runs linked to commercial services.

You say that, but it could still be operated from Baslow as a High Peak service with no public-facing mention of Hulleys (other than the drivers uniform) in the same way that the 113 and 114 are. (Except for the occasions that a Hulleys liveried vehicle made it out on to the 114 last week!)

A couple of times recently, when I have caught the 114, it has been one of the previous High Peak drivers based at Dove Holes. Said Baslow was short of drivers, so Dove Holes was covering.

That may be a short-term thing such as they hadn't managed to get all the new drivers trained on all the new routes fully yet but I have been told there is a waiting list for joining Baslow so it likely won't last long.

Looks like some new 75 plated Enviro 200MMCs are starting to enter service at High Peak. Numbered between 5212 and 5215. .5215 being YY75 KTO. Maybe there are others for other group companies.

Looks like the 4 Transpeak E200s are off to Chaserider. Is anything coming in to replace them?
15 plate ex Blackpool Citaros, three of which will be branded for Transpeak and two will be Centebus livery

Short term, D&G Enviro 200s, 523 and 524 are on loan (tracking as 506 and 765). Enviro 200MMC 5212 has been debranded from Skyline livery and is set to work the 271/272 service from the Baslow depot

Presumably they are cheaper.

Even at ten years old, Citaros are a good buy for the Transpeak.
Their mileage is also fairly low for a 10 year old bus. All five are below the 500,000 mile mark at their last MOT.

In contrast, the 65 plate E200’s being swapped are all above the 600,000 mile mark and that was at their last MOT, so the Ex Blackpool Citaros will be in better shape in terms of wear!

And much better shape in terms of build quality. Blackpool would have looked after them, too. They will be popular with both drivers and customers.

They'll have been looked after by Blackpool Transport too, and the Mercedes build quality is light years ahead of anything Alexander Dennis made at that time.

The E200s were never suitable for TransPeak, I'm glad they're going for more Citaros rather than more E200s.
