I don't know how well they have or haven't been operating services recently but when they first became High Peak (after Wellglade Group became involved) both their punctuality and reliability on the routes they operated in Cheshire was appalling.

Whenever I've used their TransPeak service (about 4 times) the punctuality has been absolutely appalling. 45 minutes late on 2 of those trips-other two trips were around 30 minutes late. Not good enough.

In fairness, TransPeak is a terrible service to maintain to timetable. The variety of popular destinations, age profile of many passengers, length of route, and massive impact of good/bad weather must cause major issues. You then have to add unpredictable congestion in Bakewell, Buxton etc

The problems I've found when using High Peak is the tightness of the timetabling which leads to some of the drivers flooring it to make up lost time, two such routes which I've seen this happen is the 61 between Glossop and Buxton and the 58 between Macclesfield and Chatsworth. The traffic at the Chatsworth end completely knackers the entire 58 timetable up, leading to the Chatsworth to Macclesfield journey being curtailed at Buxton.

I honestly think that the 61 should be extended to Chatsworth with some padding added at Buxton so that if there is any late running, it can be soaked up at Buxton along with some added time at Chatsworth so that in the even of lateness it wouldn't be too badly affected. The 58 should be cut to run between Buxton and Macclesfield only to counter any lateness.

Chatsworth extension is Sunday only. Mon-Sat the vehicles used on the 58 route have to run a route 1 circular service in the 15 minutes between the 58 arriving in Macc and departing.
