New to the forum so I am looking forward to getting advice from people and sharing my experiences.

I am currently a Tram Driver and I have wanted to be a train driver for many years. I have had two good opportunities this year but sadly on these two occasions I have not been successful.....

Had an interview with EMT for a depot driver role but I was woeful and nervous so didn't get any further. I did pass some of the psychometric tests before this interview which was a plus.

Passed an interview with Northern Rail and then went on to pass the rest of the psychometric tests so now I have passed them all but during the process I moved house which then turned out to be outside the commuting distance so I was sadly withdrawn from that process.

I am now considering going for the trainee driver role with virgin east coast. Don't really hold out much hope but hey ho you gotta be in it to win it.

Anyways I hope that one day I can finally do my dream job and good luck to anyone on here who is still chasing that dream.

James

Hi James, you've certainly got the part right that you have to move on and try again, don't get disheartened, use it to your advantage. Many people going for the job haven't sat any assessments previous and you know what to expect so use that. Have more confidence in yourself with the virgin app. Think in the mentality that what your doing will get you the job. Got to display your best self.

I know nothing of tram driving but can only imagine its one of the most closely related jobs to train driving in every aspect (no pun)

Keep pursuing and let us know how you get on
