is there any special workings due down the hertford loop anytime in the near future, other than the tamper that keeps running up and down. (eg anything other than FCC units) Like 66s 91s 43s ect.

91s run light engine now and again as do the 67s, HSTs are rare the only HST I know of which is booked via Hertford is a GC service.
Not so much 66s unlike 2007 to 2008, most now goes via Welwyn.

Best time to see something different is during disruption when everything is diverted by Hertford, :)

Since I've been there, I've seen 47, 59, 66s, 67s, 56, 91s, 180s, 222s, 321s, 313s, 365s, 37s, HSTs, 86, 92s.

Weekend engineering works coming up in late July & august when all ECML traffic will go via the Hertford Loop - special timetable shown in table 25/26 etc. I think this applies on Saturday afternoons & sundays

A few UK Railtours trips back into Kings cross will run during this period. (they are shown in the brochure as being unable to call at Potters Bar due to the Engineering works)

I've never been to Hertford, everytime I go on the East Coast we always go direct via Potters Bar.

Just out of curiosity what does Hertford station look like?

Bear in mind the photos aren't recent and were taken pre 2006 when WAGN operated the franchise.

That low fence on Platform 1 got replaced, all the windows in the shelter on Platform 1 got replaced due to vandalism, a gateline got installed in the booking office and the TVMs moved closer to the entrance with the PERTIS removed (bad mistake), that seat to the left of the stairs on Platform 3 got removed and finally the access ladder to the lift shaft got renewed so apart from all that, it's pretty much the same but with the FCC paint scheme instead.

We did get new seats in the waiting room on Platform 2 and 3 when it got refurbished along with new flooring, the toilets got refurbished as well and other small improvements thanks to moi, not forgetting the world's only invisible vending machines!

It's currently in need of a lick of paint in certain places which has been done to a certain extend but I like working there.

Saturdays 17 July until 4 september after 15:00 & on the sundays.

A slight change from earlier notices (so table 24 on the network rail website is wrong for those dates) - there are now some trains running on the welwyn route on most weeks (in some cases only between Potters Bar & WGC), but buses still replace services between WGC & stevenage. 1 tph stopping on the Hertford Loop which indicates everything else is diverted that way.

Going to be busy then with the diversions, any idea what Network Rail is actually doing during this period?

The usual - fiddling while Rome burns? ;)

Seriously, I thought it might be some S&C works at Stevenage, but perhaps I've got dates muddled in my old memory!

Lol! Had a look at the UK Railtours site nothing but bloody 67s and a 90 - I see 67s often enough on crew training runs although I've yet to see a 90 via Hertford so am looking forward to that.

Pity, the likes of 60163, 47s and the usual charter suspects aren't about, :(

Still, will be busy tonight working out what shifts I'm booked while there charters run.

There is a daily Freightliner Working northbound... 4E24... worked by a 66. I usually visit Watton at Stone and it passes around 13.50. There have been some Whitemoor workings from the High Output Ballast train returning vehicles to Plasmor for maintenenace over the past months and as recent as Tuesday evening the Northern Belle returned to York.

There have also been some recent 37 workings on the network rail trains

For posts etc you should visit Yahoo groups ECML and EC Gen and also NR Gen

Indeed, also the Plasmor train and the Scunthorpe to Dollands Moor train used to come though Hertford but don't any more.

Same like I was going to see a 67 hauled 465 working from Doncaster recently on nights, booked to come though Hertford but the bugger on duty routed it via Welwyn instead, <D
