Heritage Weekend: Chester Station, I note the following information on this weeks North Wales rail newsboard for those of you who would like a tour of the station this weekend, see below
As part of this year's national Heritage Weekend, Chester station is plating its part: 'Guided tours and updates on this historic station, where the foundation stone was laid on 1st August 1847. Will include a fascinating historic time-line stretching from its original builder Thomas Brassey right up to the present day, with large investments which have been required to make it a key transport interchange for Chester and the surrounding area.'
The tours on Saturday 8 September are organised by Chester Civic Trust, and booking is essential. See the Heritage weekend website for information or ring Sue Foster We suspect the tours will be very well supported: it would be interesting to receive a report from anyone who manages to attend.
