Hi all,
Sorry for starting a new thread but I couldn't find this mentioned elsewhere.
Some maroon Mk 1 coaches have been stationary on the Hertford line just outside Stevenage for a few days. Just wondered if anyone knows why they are there?
thanks

Steam excursion London Kings Cross to Norwich hauled (It appears) by 60009 Union of South Africa - appears to have been delayed by almost an hour and a half (assume you meant to write hours rather than days!)

Back later just after 8.10pm

Actually, based on information posted on the 'anglia-gen' Yahoo group, it should have been a steam excursion but 60009 failed before departure - so it is actually 47760 top and tail with 33207.

Reported to be delayed due to the 1029 Stevenage to Moorgate train having no driver and blocking platform 4 at Stevenage.

...and it was advertised as 61306 originally but that isn't available either.

Thanks Jonathan, makes sense. Train left about an hour ago so it fits what you say.
Actually I saw 60009 passing through Stevenage last weekend so it's probably the same train I saw then.
My in laws can see the line from their house and are insistent it has been there for quite some time.

Must be a bit disappointing for the folk that booked that tour. First the mayflower is withdrawn, but the charter is still to be steam hauled by 60009... but then gets replaced by diesel traction at the last minute and then gets held up for almost an hour and a half due to a no show driver..... I bet there is some small print in the tickets, but I could see a few complaints being made to the tour company !

Ok. Just cancel it then. Surely that will please no one.
