I am looking to purchase a station worker's hat for volunteering on a heritage railway.

They have suggested a site called HOPS as a good source. Can anybody suggest any other retailers offering a quality product please? Thanks.

You haven't said what role this is for, so it's difficult to assess what sort of training is required but in essence one of the reason people wear hats is so others know who to turn to for advice/help in the event of an accident. Most grades on the railway need some form of competence training so if you rock up on day one with "xxxxxx" job title on your hat your colleagues may assume you are coming in from another railway or maybe that you are a bit of a twit.

Ebay is a good source too, buyer beware, but probably your best option is to turn up hatless and see what happens....one might magically appear from somewhere when you have been through the appropriate training.

Working on the platforms initially - meet and greet etc. Station porter/signaller style on HOPS website shop. That sort of thing-ish.

Have you looked on eBay?
Many other companies use black peaked caps. My first one was ex police issue acquired via a relative.
