Has anyone been to the Alderney railway in the Channel Islands - what were your thoughts?

Yes, I visited Alderney a couple of times on a minesweeper and had a ride on the railway even though it wasnt supposed to be open! The people were very friendly and its fairly unique but to be honest I dont think that Alderney is really worth visiting as a tourist destination.

There are a couple of narrow gauge preserved railways in the north of france (baie de somme and Froissy-Cappy-Dompiere Railway) that are probably more deserving of a visit by British Enthusiasts.
