I've noticed the following events on the Heritage Open Days website if anyone's interested:

Oh Doctor Beeching! Walking Tour
Chester History & Heritage Centre, Bridge Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH1 1NW

This guided 90 minute walking tour will be led by city guide Gerry Tighe. It marks the 50th year since the publication of the Beeching Report which had a major impact in Britain's railways. Chester was not immune from change and this tour will include reference to some of these changes as well as some contemporary events in the life of the city.

Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester
Boyle Street, Cheetham, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M8 8UW

Grade II listed building - one of Manchester's first bus garages now used as a Transport Museum. Children's "playbus"; activity tables; access to various vehicles; ticket machine handling sessions; "dressing up" area - be a bus driver or conductor for the day

Museum of Transport: Bus Tours
Boyle Street, Cheetham, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M8 8UW

An opportunity to ride on historic buses from the collection of the Museum of Transport. Tours will run on the hour, every hour, calling at the Museum of Science & Industry and the People's History Museum in Manchester city centre.

The Electric Railway Museum, Rowley Road, Baginton, Coventry, West Midlands, CV8 3AZ

The museum is a charity which aims to promote the heritage of the electric train. On the site you will find the largest collection of preserved electric trains in the UK ranging from Industrial locomotives, suburban multiple units and Edwardian underground carriages. The museum also has on site 'Little Bowden Junction' signal Box built by the Midland railway company along with lots of other original delights. Shunting demonstrations of vintage locomotives. Opportunities to view the interiors of many trains. Museum, shop and cafe also open.

Sunday 15th September. LTHT are running heritage buses between the abbey pumping stations "beside the seaside" event and their new home, stoneygate tram depot. Also doing tours of Leicester.
