I think it depends on how much you value time / money. Which is more important?
A PRIV single Liverpool to Stafford is only £4.90 (Rte Virgin Trnsonly), the 0605 connects at Stafford, Lichfield or Tamworth with a London Midland service departing Stafford 0724, Lichfield 0740 or Tamworth 0747 arriving at Watford Jn 0927.
That's very cheap, and gives you a bit of spare time in case of delays.
A faster, but more costly option, is to get the 0700 all the way to Euston (this is non-stop from Runcorn) and then use LM (for free) Euston-Watford, the 'suggested' train is the 0924 arriving 0939 but the 0905 arriving 0925 is a possibility if you're one of the first to get off the Pendolino near the front, and make good time to the LM platforms. How far the walk will be depends on what platform you're in.
