Here's a random question

So, what's the furthest away that you've been captured in an image from? To explain what I mean, basically how far have you been from someone who was directing you, to specifically make a proper digital image containing you, without any other persons being involved at all?
For me, the answer is 217 miles, and I'll provide the picture later for proof (I'm currently waiting for a taxi at Bromsgrove, at 01.10 FFS)

I can't say for sure, but I imagine that Google Earth has managed to catch me from over 600 miles away before now... hock:

As to the first part of your response, to avoid Google Earth being the answer, I did say specifically the image that was produced must have intentionally featured you by design, rather than a coincidence of timing. It's all really just a strange thread, before I unveil the image in question. Bear in mind, when I posted this, and what horrors had befallen me that night.

Well done, you've indeed figured out the methodology employed, I found it quite amusing as I was not even meant to be on the railtour I'd travelled on, but a friend fell ill and couldn't use his ticket and offered it for free!!

It's a misconception that images on Google Earth are all taken from satellite. Certainly the most zoomed out shots are satellite imagery, but when you get down to the closer images they are compiled from aerial photography from aircraft, so for example any shot where you can clearly see your own car outside your house would have been taken from a plane, not a satellite.

It is, its just from a satellite mounted on a pole on top of a Vauxhall Astra. If you fired it into space in the hold of the space shuttle, it would quite happily orbit the earth (you might find some difficulty picking up radio one on the Vauxhall's stereo, though)
