Helsinki - St Petersburg by train

We are travelling on Allegro train Helsinki - St Petersburg on 9 August 2011. I'm hoping that it will be a stress free way to enter Russia that won't involve standing in a queue :D. Booked the ticked direct from Finnish Railways for Euro 92 one way. Normal cost is about Euro 80 as it seems they increase the prices for the peak summer months :roll:.

Anyone have experience of this trip that they can share ?

I did it about 4 years ago in pre-Allegro days (loco and coaches). Border checks were done on board so no queuing. Long wait at the border station for engine change (and smoking break for passengers) which the Allegros will presumably have eliminated.

I hope the Allegros have more luggage space than a Pendolino (for example)! - everyone (me included) had a lot of luggage on a full train.

I haven't experienced the trip to St Petersburg yet. I just popped on board the afternoon Allegro 10 mins before it's departure from Helsinki today in order to take these photos. It appears to me that there is enough luggage space
