Help with unbookable route

Tried to search for a similar issue but failed to find a thread on it. A colleague and I are travelling up from Euston to Manchester - there's an Avanti train at 7:53 and I'll get off at Rugby (listed as a stopping point). However, when I attempt to book Euston to Rugby, that train is unbookable and not even listed as an option. Curious as to why that is and if I can just get an anytime, Avanti train single ticket, and board the 7:53 train regardless?

Train is Pick Up only at Rugby so sales platforms will not show it as an option. the train will not show as stopping at Rugby on the screens at Euston either.

Officially? No.

In practice? Possibly, but Avanti are very hot on enforcing pick-up/set-down calls.

I wouldn't recommend trying.

No. You cannot use that train to travel to Rugby; it is very unlikely that you will be allowed to board at Euston with a ticket to there.

If you did get past the staff at Euston, some guards would attempt to charge you for a ticket to the first set down stop, though it's debatable how enforceable that actually is.

Slightly confused. If you're travelling from Euston to Manchester Piccadilly, why are you wanting to get off the Avanti train at Rugby anyway? And what exact ticket would you be holding for this?

They're going to Manchester and I'm going to Rugby - and wanted to use the same train at that time

Depending on the tickets held you could all get the 07:46 LNR service from Euston and alight at Rugby at 08:42. Your friends could then continue to Manchester by catching the 08:47 Avanti (which is the train you wanted to catch at Euston).
