Hi, I have a ticket from Harpenden (HPD) to Salisbury. Off Peak Day Single £47.50, any permitted with a Maltese cross

I'd like to travel HPD to West Hampstead Thameslink, then West Hampstead Jubilee line to Waterloo. Finally getting the train to Salisbury.

I am looking to travel from Harpenden approx 18:00 Today with a view to catching the 19:20 from Waterloo to Salisbury. I am a little uncertain whether my off peak ticket and restriction code UT enable me to do this.

Please could someone help confirm I am OK with this journey/ticket combo.

Thanks

Restriction text is available here. There is no afternoon restriction into London, and departing London restrictions only apply up to 1900. (Incorrect restriction text reading, see below.)

You are however strongly advised to avoid the 1920 as it is the first off-peak service to the west country for many fares, and can often be extremely busy. The 1950, despite being a 3-car, is a much better bet and a more pleasant journey.

As useful as the site is, BRFares is not an official source and the data provided to it by the industry on restriction codes is frequently out of date. Use National Rail Enquiries: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/UT

Having said that, I agree there is no evening peak restriction out of Waterloo.

My bad, there is no evening restriction out of Waterloo, in which case I would recommend the 1850 if you can make it.

I don't see anything in the BR Fares restriction text regarding an evening peak restriction from Waterloo either? That said, it's on my to-do list to switch BR Fares over to using the NRE version of the restriction text, which hopefully should keep everyone happy.

I find being able to laugh at one's own mistake makes life that little bit less stressful. :D

Don't take my comments as a criticism of BRFares - I think you're doing the best you can with the data available! On the contrary, I'm criticising ATOC more than anything for providing data that so often gets out of date... I just think that, in general, though it's a great place to find out about fares themselves, I wouldn't suggest people trust it to be accurate when it comes to restriction text, because of these issues.
