Hi all.

Just wondering if i can get some help with B'ham Newstreet station since i have to use it instead of normal Wolverhampton to get an Edinburgh Bound train.

I know how to get to the station from Moor Street very easliy just need some help with the aprox location of Platform 9A since the 13:03 Aberdeen bound train departs from their. Also which end First class stops (Cheap ticket so though might as well go for it).

Most the time i wouldn't bother to ask just since i will have a suitcase and other things on me since will be going on holiday, so just to make it easier for me overal and aviod getting in peoples way.

Thank you in advance. and hopefully in the right area.

Chris

Hi, First Class (in my experience) can be at either end, just ak the platform staff when you get there. from the main concourse, platform 9 is left through the barriers, and left again for 9a. :D Hope this helps

Going through the main station barriers to get to platform 9 you will need to turn left. Platform 9a stairs will then be on the left hand side of the walkway and are clearly signposted from what I remember.

As for 1st class as it is a Cross Country service it can be at either end of the train so you will not know for certain until it is arriving into the platform.

Thank you for the help. Been a very long time since i've gone from New Street. and shall ask platform staff from which end. Thought first would be worth the extra 20 over standard :D.

But then only going with XC since Wolverhampton/ Stafford is closed and would take nearly the same time with getting the coach to Staff station.

But a week in Portagul :)

CrossCountry used to have their own platform staff who's job it was to look up on the computer which end First class was on Voyager services and to provide this information to customers and ensure that customers with reservations stood in the right place. Since earlier in the year when mobility assistance transferred to Network Rail there are now much less staff who meet XC trains and you will have to wait until the train arrives. First class on XC Voyager units is in coach A when the trains are operating as a single unit and can be identified by the yellow stripe on the coupling.

Would you not be better changing at Smethwick Galton Bridge to avoid the walk from Moor St - New St?

Not possible since Wolverhampton / B'ham New street is a bus replacement service tomorrow.

Not to late at all. Don't go to Kiddy till 10 :). Thank you though. Should be a nice easy Journey, after that will give my Report on XC.
