Help! What was the 73????

Hallo. I have to ask!! Was anyone on Eastleigh or trackside. Monday or Tuesday afternoon this week.. An "EWS" 66 went down passed my kitchen window, towing a well 'Weather beaten" Class 73 'Electro'.. In a a very-very faded BR Corporate Blue livery. Behind the 73, was 3 x 20 (?) ton tank wagons!!.. Was this a '73' off to the cutters torch? Or another preserved example, maybe heading off to a preserved line. Possibly the 'Swanage'??? Anyone got any ideas what this was. Thanks!

73005 is meant to be going to Eastleigh to have some traction motor repairs done, its normally at the Severn Valley Railway, the Preserved Diesels website said it moved on the 22nd of April but that it went by road, its painted in electric blue but the paint work does'nt look to good and looking at the pics it could easily be mistaken for a BR blue example, it may have been that one...... thats if the plan changed and it moved by rail and not road? ........or if the work was completed it could've been heading home back to the SVR.

I saw a light blue 73 in Eastleigh east yard a few days ago.

It's usually the case that even when the long distant part of the trip is on the road network, the final few hundred yards has to be by rail because it's basically impossible to get a low loader over the Campbell Rd bridge into the works.

So a short trip from the yard to the works is seen, often behind an EWS 66...

73005 (Mid Hants Railway) was moved across Eastleigh yard last week and is now in Eastleigh works.
