Background, for the past few years I've been helping an older neighbour obtain his travel tickets to travel to London for his annual health check. This has proved relatively simple with us both attending our local station, handing over the booking reference, inserting the associated bankcard, and picking up the tickets.

This year, however, my neighbour did not provide me with a booking reference. When I queried this, he stated that he did not receive one (although its possible he did not note it down). As my neighbour does not have email we are a bit stymied. He booked via telesales and the few times I've attempted to call them back there has been no response with excessive on hold times.

I've tried at both Linlithgow & Edinburgh Waverley to see if they could help, but to no avail. I've emailed LNER direct, and although acknowledged, I'm awaiting a response.

However, his date of travel is fast approaching (Monday 22nd September), and I'm concerned that LNER Customer Services will not respond in time.

Therefore, do we have anyone on the forum who has speedier access to LNER and who could expedite this matter.

I can provide the passenger's name, address, and full journey details in a personal message.

Many thanks in advance.

Has he, inadvertently, got an eTicket? If not, I would suggest logging in to his account and looking at the bookings.

How did he book?

Is there any reference on his bank account from the debit card payment?

In theory, if the tickets are some for collection, it is possible for a station to check the industry ToD database by Surname instead of a collection reference.

Whether staff know they can do this (or if their TIS lets them?) might be another matter.

I would be very, very, surprised if this hasn't been tried already at when the OP went to Edinburgh.

I actually suspected this, but my neighbour says not.
Drop me a pm with the details

I've reached out to our Telesales team this morning to contact the customer with the details

Why is a double post protection working after 17 hours?
