On June 22nd I booked a Advance single between Manchester Picc and York leaving Man Picc at 07.55 getting into York at 09.23 for Sat 12th Sept on the Great Western Website and i got the Tickets in the post a few days later.

Now I was looking for some times between York and Sunderland that day on the same website and see that now all Advance Tickets have been taken off for the Tickets that I booked and have in my hand and also that The times have all changed due to all trains leave man Vic not Man Picc!!!!:(

Now Its have messed everything up now for me as I am coming from Stoke and have a Advance booked on the same day to get the 07.55am from Man picc to York which is not a sevice now and again i have got the Tickets for the Stoke to Man as well.

Why Have they done this and why Did they sell the Tickets and then take them off as when i booked them it had MAN PICC TO YORK NOT MAN VIC TO YORK WITH LONGER TRAIN TIMES.

What can i do as it has messed everything up now and the same goes for getting back later on the same day.

Please help.

Why have they done this
Probably engineering work notified later than it should have been.

why Did they sell the Tickets
Probably nobody told them about the engineering work.

and then take them off
Probably somebody told them about the engineering work.

What can i do
Photocopy the tickets. Write a letter to the TOC stating that time is the essence of the contract, that the TOC has changed the time after the tickets were purchased, that the new times are not suitable to you, and demand a full refund. Enclose the originals of the tickets. Keep a copy of the letter. You'll get the refund (eventually).

What you won't get is any compensation for any other Advance tickets you have bought which have not changed. Try to re-plan your journeys around these.

Start off with Transpennine Express because they changed the times and they are the TOC you would have claimed from if the train had been excessively delayed. If they tell you to claim from somebody else, make sure you get the originals of the tickets back from them.

TPE's Passenger Charter is here http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/MediaLibrary/Passengers_Charter/pass_chart_5.pdf and their address is First TransPennine Express, ADMAIL 3878, Manchester, M1 9YB

The paragraph you are claiming under is on page 18:
First TransPennine Express Passenger’s Charter said:
If you buy a ticket and the train you plan to catch is delayed or cancelled, you may decide not to travel. You may return your unused ticket immediately to any ticket office and the train company responsible for that ticket office will give you an immediate full refund, if it is in a position to do so.

Your train is cancelled because you bought a ticket, together with a seat reservation, from Manchester Piccadilly and TPE are not running any trains for that journey at that time on that day.
