Help Please! Information required.

Hi,

I'm applying for National Vetting and in it I have been asked whether I have ever been issued a fixed penalty notice. I remember a few years ago I lost my ticket on the Tyne and Wear metro and was issued a penalty fare. I was just wondering whether that was classed as a fixed penalty notice as I can't seem to get a direct answer from anywhere but my current understanding is that they are different instruments underpinned by different legislation.

Would somebody cleverer than me please be able to advise? Thank you so much!

Are you applying for a job in the Civil Service and providing infor for the the National Security Vetting check ?.

If you are I would disclose EVERYTHING , that way you can`t be accused of hiding anything.

I am a CS who did this 18 months ago and I declared my issues with alcohol and debt - I still got the job.

A Penalty Fare is a higher than normal fare, charged to people who make a mistake under certain circumstances.

It isn't a fine, and anyone issued with one isn't accused of attempting to evade payment of the fare.

If that's all it was, there is no need to disclose anything.

Depending on what level of vetting you are undergoing they might know about it.

People undergoing Developed Vetting are often surprised at what things get mentioned that they have excluded, including in the case of one person I know a long forgotten savings account with about 40p in it.

it's not DV which sounds like a nightmare lol but would rather be completely open. Thanks for the advice I'll talk with my vetting officer

I’d disclose it. They likely won’t be interested - and might not know about it - but DV is as much a look at your “archaeology” as it is an honesty and integrity test.

Did they offer to help them get the 40p?
