I'm not sure if this is the right forum to use but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with this photograph taken by my dad back in the late 1960s.

I think it shows a Fowler steam locomotive numbered 44460 but I've no idea what the location of this photo is. I'm not even sure if this is taken in the UK or if it was taken somewhere in Europe.

If anyone can shed any light or has any ideas then that'd be appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Edit: Location looks like Bebra or Kassel, Germany looking at other DB steam pictures.

Many thanks both of you for your help. That makes much more sense! I hadn't thought to notice that the car was a left hand drive!

From 1968 under the new computerised system the class was officially 044, but it took a year or 3 for the new numbers to be applied. The loco was withdrawn from Crailsheim at the beginning of 1973, but Google isn't coming up trumps with where it was allocated.

However, it looks to be outside a small loco depot, rather than Kassel (roundhouse) or Bebra (2x half-roundhouse). Do you know where your father might have been?
If you want more precise info, you could try Drehscheibe-Online (posts in English are quite ok). https://www.drehscheibe-online.de/startindex2.php
