Help in booking tickets

Hi all,

I'm trying to book some return tickets for Saturday from Hucknall to Burton.

However I've hit a problem - I'm given the options of either delivery (which is £6, nor will there be someone in to sign for them), or of course collection from a station. Now according to CrossCountry's website theres no ticket machine at Hucknall. There is one at Nottingham (where we change), but I can't get there before hand to collect them.

What happend to the option to print off tickets? I doubt a printed confirmation of booking be used on the outward Hucknall to Nottingham journy and collect them during the change at Notts?

If they are returns is there a specific reason why you cannot buy them on the day from the station/guard/friendly RPI?

You can only get print at home tickets if your entire journey is on either any combination or CrossCountry and Virgin, or East Coast. Are you changing onto East Midlands Trains at Nottingham?

You are not allowed to travel bearing only a confirmation of booking, and I would be very surprised if the conductor allowed this

XC e-ticketing is not available as your journey also involves travel on East Midlands Trains

My suggestion would be either to purchase tickets between Nottingham and Burton via the website, and pay for travel between Hucknall and Nottingham on the train, or otherwise to buy a Hucknall to Burton-on-Trent ticket on the train - this will not cost any more than booking via the website, and will save you delivery costs

I'll be changing from EMT to XC at Nottingham.

Maybe I'll be best to buy them on the day?

Indeed.

There are no Advance tickets available for that journey, so you've nothing to gain by booking in advance.

And if your plans change on the day and you cancel your trip, you haven't lost any money.

Seeing as it won't cost us any more, we're going to get our tickets on the day.

You won't be able to get seat reservations between Nottingham and Burton, although it's not a long journey so that may not be important to you.
