Help identifying a train I spotted at Princes Risborough

I was wondering if anyone knew what this is. I saw it this morning at Princes Risborough, sitting in the bay platform which usually holds a train to Aylesbury. Is it still in active service?

Still massively newer than a Class 483.

It was a cheapish way of freeing up a 165 during the peak for use on more vital parts of the network. If there had been any 153s floating around I suspect they'd have used them instead. A rather clever idea in my book.

Until a few months ago Arriva Trains Wales had similar class 121 no. 121032 running the Cardiff Queen St - Cardiff Bay shuttles when they could get it to work.

Bought by Chiltern for spares or overhaul - the Bay branch will be electrified with the rest of the Valley and through service provided.

I doubt Chiltern will strip it for spares considering they paid to have a new dluid fly wheel fitted to it.

We had it running at Llangollen for seven days and didn't have any issues with it at all, must of been the shock of it going more than the length of the bay line.

That is something I think some of us have been saying the Cardiff Bay line is just too short for it.

121020 and 121034 are used on the Aylesbury-Risborough line. It's the oldest DMU but not the oldest 'thing' on the network. I think that honour would go to the remaining class 20s and class 08s.
