Hey everyone, I'm in Perth Western Australia and I picked up this old sign pictured below recently and have done some online research trying to ID the age etc. It was with some other very old items and so I'm unsure of the age and value?

It's about 35 - 40cm longish and very thick steel, heavy plate kinda thing

Any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I can't say I'm an expert on these matters and Iam sure there will be better informed people answer your question soon, but my guess is that this sign dates from somewhere in the period 1947-61, the years the BTC was in operation. It isn't necessarily railway related as the BTC covered other operations including docks, waterways etc. hence this could refer to cables under a canal for example, welcome to the forum btw. :)
